Remote sensing is the science of acquiring, processing, and interpreting images and related data, acquired from aircraft and satellites, that record the interaction between matter and electromagnetic energy (Sabins, 1997, p. 1). Purpose

These studies aims to give an oversight of what is being done by researchers in GIS and remote sensing (field) to explore minerals.

Design/methodology/approach

The approach of this type of study used to generate the thematic maps with the aid of application of GIS and remote sensing techniques for mineral exploration with help of different soft wares.

Findings

When applied alone, each technique seems effective, but it is important to know that combining different methods is more effective in identifying ore deposits.

  • These studies provide possible solutions to both current and future perspective issues relating to the application of GIS and remote sensing to mineral exploration.
  • Our state of the art LIDAR and Photogrammetry mapping drones can deliver precision mapping at as little as 1cm GSD (ground sampling distance) and with real world accuracy as low as 2 cm XY and 3 cm Z.
